The Best Healthy-ish Chocolate Chip Cookie Shake
You may think... oh no she didn't! But.... oh yes yes I did :) I am not sure if you guys know of the miraculous thing called frozen bananas. If you are not let me tell you! It is so fabulous that frozen bananas when put through the food processor or blender becomes smooth like a healthier soft served ice cream. Then when put into the freezer it can resemble more of a traditional ice cream consistency.
This is where the term "nice" cream comes from, which I have a delicious Strawberries & Cream Nice Cream on HGHF right here! So then I thought to myself... well lets go ahead and turn it into shake form and yes CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE SHAKE FORM!
So what you will need are mini crunchy cookies of your choosing. Personally I love the mini crunchy chocolate chip cookies from Enjoy Life Foods. They make this shake even more healthy-ish, made with quality ingredients, they are also dairy free, gluten free and free of many common allergens. They make the perfect treat for anyone! However, you can use whatever crunchy chocolate chip cookies your heart desires.
Did you know that on average a chocolate or cookies & cream shake can have around 600-800 calories??
Now I am all about having that shake if you want it, now & again! I truly believe that. However, we know that drinking these a lot are not good for us in the slightest. So I wanted to bring you something that cuts those calories in half & makes your body feel a lot better after!
So let's get started!!
What Ingredients will you need?
1. Your favorite crunchy chocolate chip cookies
(or crunchy cookies of choosing like Oreos or thin mints etc! Annie's Homegrown has a great Oreo cookie free of a lot of the junk that is really worth checking out!)
2. Frozen Bananas
( you want a banana that is ripe enough to evoke enough sweetness, so the kind of banana you would use for banana bread. You need the bananas to be sliced & put in freezer bag or container for at least 2 hours, but best for 24 hours)
3. Milk of Choice
(in order to keep this DF use a DF milk, or use your favorite dairy milk too)
4. Vanilla Extract
Coconut cream: gives it that extra creamy taste
Honey: if you want it any sweeter
Ingredients & Directions
1 large frozen banana ( needs to be frozen for at least 2 hours, better after 24 hours. Sliced & frozen in a freezer bag/container)
1/3-1/2 cup of crispy chocolate chip cookies ( depending on how chocolate chip-y you want it!)
3/4 cup milk of choice (add more milk if need be when blending)
1/2 tsp of vanilla extract
Optional: 1/2 tbsp coconut cream & 1 tsp of honey
In a high power blender add in large frozen banana, milk & half of the chocolate chip cookies, vanilla extract & the optional ingredients if you are adding them in
Once the mixture is full incorporated & smooth. Add in the rest of the chocolate chips & pulse in order to make sure they aren't full incorporated to give it a good crunch as you eat the shake!
Pour into a tall glass & enjoy!!
Have fun with this recipe! Try out different cookies, different amounts to your liking & make sure you tag me to let me know what you try!
