Morning Detox Smoothie

This smoothie has ALL the benefits & super scrumptious. I have been making this recipe for over 2 years now & one of my FAVORITE things is that A devours it. She calls it her green juice :) No "yuck" or any protest, the taste she loves & I think if we teach them green is good instead of having that "negative initial ew" when we see something green to eat, it changes their mindset! This smoothie is packed with all things amazing for your body-- digestion, heart healthy, antioxidants, protection against free radicals.. list goes on & on! In this smoothie we have:


Spinach- Bone strengthener, high alkalinity, nutritious eyes, prevents cancer, improves digestion


Kiwi- Boosts immunity, high in fiber, removes excess sodium, manages blood pressure


Banana- Gut health, promotes high nutrient absorption, keeps digestive tract healthy, improves bone health


Ginger- Improves blood flow, treatment for cold & flu, helps aid upset stomach, helps with digestion & bloating, promotes respiratory health


Dates- Promotes regular bowel moments, healthy skin, energy booster, strength bones

Ingredients:

1 spotted banana ( more ripe the sweeter it will be)

1 ripen kiwi

3/4 cup of chopped spinach

1 inch raw ginger, diced

2-3 dates ( 3 for sure if you used packaged dates, not fresh from bulk. The bulk large dates is what I recommend, just make sure you take the pits out first. I use 2 if my banana is ripe, if you banana isn't too ripe, you may want to opt for the 3 dates)

1 cup milk of choice ( we use coconut milk )

2 ice cubes

Directions:

In high power blender add in the ingredients in this order. This allows the smoothie to get it as smooth as you want. A lot of times green smoothies can be stringy with the greens, but putting them closest to the blade eliminates that!


1. Place spinach closest to the blade & push down (careful of the blades!), then diced ginger, dates chopped, banana, kiwi, milk & then ice cubes. Then place on low speed for about 30 seconds, then increase speed until medium, high speed for a little over a minute. Then pour & enjoy!
