Campfire Mix

Updated: Mar 13

I love making mixes that A can snack on throughout the week. I also love making mixes that are a little "sweet" treat, to curve that craving & that packs a healthy punch as well. Snack mixes like this can also be a black hole for lots of additives, artificial flavorings & dyes. In my S'more snack mix I also have on HGHF, I compare some of the ingredients to leading brands so you can see the big difference. I am not in anyway saying those brands are bad, but it is very eye opening. Here are the brands or things I look for when making this mix! You will love bringing it to your next get together, make for the family to much on through the week or your next bonfire or soon to be SUMMER NIGHTS outside :)

In this mix the bear bites by Kodiak Cakes are made from 100% whole grain, high in protein & no artificial ingredients, as well as all non GMO. The freeze dried strawberries I buy are the ones that only have one ingredient-- strawberries! They have a high vitamin C content, which is necessary for development & growth of body tissue. Coconut flakes that are rich in fiber & then last but not least the yummy marshmallows. The brand that I love is Dandies. See below for the compassions

MARSHMALLOWS used in this Dandies.. look at leading brands! Dandies Marshmallows:THE BEST get them there :) Ingredients: TAPIOCA SYRUP, CANE SUGAR, FILTERED WATER, TAPIOCA STARCH, CARRAGEENAN, SOY PROTEIN, NATURAL VANILLA FLAVOR.

Ingredients:

1 box of Kodiak Cakes Chocolate Bear Bites

3/4 cup freeze dried strawberries

1/2-3/4 cup Dandies marshmallows

1/3 cup coconut flakes

1/4 tsp cinnamon

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400

1. On a baking sheet with sheet of parchment or Silpat, spread out the coconut flakes. Sprinkle with cinnamon & place in oven at 400 degrees. Keep an eye out & after about 2 minutes, use a spatula & toss. Check in minute increments. When they start to brown take them out. You want them toasted not burnt :) Then pour in a bowl to cool & crisp

2. Then in a large bowl pour in box of Kodiak Cakes chocolate bear bites, freeze dried strawberries, dandies marshmallows, your toasted coconut flakes & then mix until evenly mixed. Then store in an air tight container or container with lid like you see above!
